I completed a four year BEd (Hons) degree at Derby University and during this time I experienced many different and diverse educational settings. I started my teaching career at Sharnford CofE Primary school in years 2 and 3 - but I spent time in all year groups during my three years working there. In 2019 I moved to All Saints to be a Year 3 and 4 teacher. This presents unique opportunities from working with mixed aged classes to going on a residential or two! I enjoy watching children understand a concept and have that particular ‘lightbulb’ moment whether it be academically or in a social situation.
I love teaching all subjects, but I really enjoy listening to children explain their answers and develop their reasoning skills in mathematics. I am the Music coordinator across All Saints and Sharnford and a highlight was taking a group of children from the Hub to perform for BBC 1 Children in Need in 2019. I am also the Communication Champion for All Saints.
My summers can often see me volunteering for a charity which takes children from all over the world on summer camps; always enriching experiences which I will treasure. You will often find the children from my class singing different songs from these camps or solving a riddle or two!
In my spare time you will often find me at the theatre; I’ve been involved in amateur dramatics since I was young, now more in a backstage capacity. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and my class will have heard a lot about the many adventures of my cat Polly!
It has been a privilege to be a part of such a special community full of hard-working, determined staff. I will always continue to learn from my wonderful colleagues at All Saints, the Hub and the Trust.
