I came to teaching late, and it's been the best career change I have made. I have been at All Saints in one capacity or another for around 9 years, and I can assure you that every day and every year has something new to experience. I have also worked at our sister school in Sharnford. I currently teach a mixed Year 3-4 class, and it presents unique opportunities and challenges for a teacher, helping the new Year 3s step up to the pace and growth mindsets of KS2, while accelerating the Year 4s so they can hit Year 5 running!
There isn't much in the curriculum that we teach that I don't have an interest in, and I am always getting intrigued by new perspectives and developments in all subjects, or in primary education as a whole. I also try to bring in my experiences from a life before teaching to supplement and enhance the learning, especially in terms of real world contexts for the pupils. My speciality is Science though, and I love the idea of teaching the fundamental core ideas through simple, eye-opening experiments that children can repeat at home to their heart's content.
Outside of school I love wargaming, walking and baking, among other things. I probably read far too much for my own good and spend lots of time researching. Oh and I can't stand decorating!
