I have been teaching now since 2008 and have taught in most year groups. I still don't know which is my favourite! I love the awe and wonder that you get with younger children, but then I really enjoy the way older children become well-rounded characters by the time they get to key stage 2.
I joined All Saints in 2019, having previously worked at another Trust school and I absolutely love it here! At the moment I teach year 5/6 on a Thursday and Friday morning. The rest of the time I am Head of School. This means I work hard to make sure the school runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis and work closely with staff, parents and children.
My favourite subjects in school are maths and computing, and I am a Specialist Leader of Education in these subjects- this means I am really passionate about teaching and leading these subjects and sometimes I go out and help other schools too. Maths is a great subject and is more creative than you might think- I love finding patterns in number, solving logic puzzles and helping others to build their own "number sense" so that they can play with number too. Computing can also be a very creative subject and there are so many opportunities to learn new skills and to enhance our work with technology during the school day. My favourite thing to do is to use a green screen to create backgrounds just like they do in the movies!
When I am not in school I can usually be found walking with my husband, my two boys and my very bouncy dogs. We love animals and have two cats and two guinea pigs too! I am trying to convince Mr Palmer to let me have chickens as well!
Apart from walking, I also really enjoy reading and theatre. I always have at least one book on the go and I often have lines to learn for a play that I am in too.
