Hello and welcome to Oak Class!
We are a class of Year 2 children taught by Mrs Morrison and Miss Palmer.
We're looking forward to the year ahead and it is great that we will be able to join with the other Year 2 class, Maple, at playtimes this year.
AUTUMN 1 LEARNING
Our topic for the first half term is History -based:
'Who was Richard III and why is he so important to Leicester?'
We will be learning about what we need to keep ourselves healthy in Science and will be finding out what all animals need in order to survive.
We will cover English and Maths every day in class, as well as Phonics.
From Monday children will bring home a list of ten spellings to practise. There will be no formal spelling tests on these words but we will recap these regularly.
Your child will bring a reading book and reading record book/diary home in a plastic wallet. Please use the orange record book to write down when your child has read, or if you need to bring anything else to our attention. These books will be checked daily.
The majority of home-learning will be online and accessible through Google Classrooms as it was during Lockdown. Home-learning will have alternate English and Maths focus and will
uploaded on Wednesday. Your child will be provided with a Home-Learning book for any work they need to bring in to school.
In Oak Class we will have PE on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please send your child into school in their PE kit on those days, making sure they have appropriate footwear. As much as possible we will try to be outside for PE, so please ensure your child has a sweatshirt/hoodie as the weather gets cooler. Also please tie long hair back and remove earrings and any other jewellery for safety.
We look forward to meeting in Oak Class! Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have an questions.
