All Saints Church of England Primary School

"Guiding all our flock to flourish"

Year 1 and 2

Year 1&2 at All Saints is made up of our 3 mixed age 1/2 classes, Maple, Oak & Cedar.

Maple Class is taught by Miss Tansey with Mrs Millen as classroom support, and their PE days are Tuesday & Thursday.

Oak Class is taught by Miss Carvell on Monday & Tuesday, and Miss Oram Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, with Mrs Rutter supporting their learning. Oak's PE days are Wednesday & Friday.

Cedar Class is taught by Miss Fraser, with learning support provided by Mrs Oussia. Cedar Class PE days are Monday & Wednesday.

All three of our 1/2 classes promote the school's vision "guiding all our flock to flourish". We deliver a varied and exciting curriculum in lots of different ways, thus enabling children from all backgrounds and abilities to access our learning in a safe and stimulating environment. We offer provision and opportunities that carefully build on the learning experiences children have already had during their time in school in EYFS and Key Stage One, thus enabling children from both year groups to work to the best of their abilities and we also promote the values of kindness, friendship, perseverance and resilience to enable children to be the best version of themselves!

We feel that children's education is a partnership between home and school, and appreciate and value your role in this. We will contact you via letter, email or phone call, but please do not hesitate to speak to us first if you need to either face to face or through the school office, and we will be happy to help you.

Key Information:

  • Please hear your child read their school reading book often and sign their reading record when you have done so. If appropriate, please also practise any sounds or common exception words with your child that have been sent home in their reading packs. Children will be heard reading by an adult once a week in school, and books will be changed at least once a week, but this could be more often if it is something your child requires. Please ensure your child brings their reading book and record to school everyday.
  • Homework will be sent out on Fridays and collected in on Wednesdays in a homework book. Please ensure your child has their homework book on these days.
  • Please ensure your child comes to school on their PE kit on the days their class has PE. Long hair should be tied back, no jewellery should be worn, and if earrings are unable to removed should be taped up with medical tape prior to your child coming to school. A list of PE kit appropriate for school can be found on the 'PE and school sport' page of the school website.
  • Please see below to see what your child will be learning about across the curriculum during Autumn Term. Further information about our curriculum and the different subjects can be found on the curriculum pages of the school website.
