At All Saints, spirituality is at the heart of who we are. Rooted in our vision, “Guiding All Our Flock to Flourish,” and inspired by the words of Psalm 23, we believe that every member of our school community is valued, supported and guided to grow.
We understand spirituality as the opportunity to pause, reflect and wonder about ourselves, our relationships with others, the world around us and our relationship with God. It is about noticing the deeper meaning in everyday moments and recognising the beauty, questions and experiences that shape who we are.
Throughout school life, we create regular opportunities for children to develop spiritually by encouraging them to reflect on:
Looking In (self) – understanding ourselves, our thoughts, feelings and beliefs
Looking Out (others & beauty) – noticing the world around us and caring for others and creation
Looking Up (beyond) – exploring big questions about meaning, faith and God
Spirituality is nurtured through many aspects of school life, including Collective Worship, prayer and reflection spaces, RE lessons, creative experiences, time in nature, acts of service and courageous advocacy, as well as through everyday moments of kindness, curiosity and gratitude.
We encourage our children to ask big questions, appreciate different perspectives and develop a sense of awe and wonder about the world. In doing so, we guide them to grow as thoughtful, compassionate individuals who are ready to flourish both within our school community and beyond.
It is relationships that bind each of the four aspects together and can be seen at the heart. What connects them is love.
“Spirituality is the act of being fully human by discovering and revealing ourselves through love.” (Andrew Ricketts)
