E-Safety

E-Safety is ever becoming a more important focus as our global community advances in this technological world. On this page you will find out a bit of what we do in school to educate our children about staying safe and protecting themselves online. You will also find some useful link that you may find useful for yourself or others members of your family.

What do we do in school?

 

Safer Internet Day

Each year we celebrate Safer Internet day and each class will be asked to complete activities relevant to each year focus. Each year the focus changes, this year (2021) we looked at ‘An internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world’ our next date for Safer Internet day is Tuesday 8th February 2022.

 

Our Curriculum

A large focus in our newly created computing curriculum is on E-Safety, we have chosen to use Google Internet Legends programme for our classes to use and follow in school. This programme teaches children to embrace and make the most of the internet, but making smart decisions whilst doing so. Internet Legends empowers children to use the web safely and wisely, so they can be confident explorers of the online world. The ‘be Internet Legends’ programme focuses on 5 fundamentals

Online safety guide for parents from Leicestershire County Council

Simon Genders (Leicestershire County Council - Safeguarding Development Team) has created this presentation for schools to share with parents to support and encourage safe online behaviour at home. It is about 20 minutes long but is well worth a watch.
